The HCPC, in collaboration with seven other professional healthcare regulators,* has published the Whistleblowing Disclosures Report 2019. The report gives details of all disclosures made between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019.
Between the 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019, the HCPC received nine whistleblowing disclosures. One disclosure resulted in regulatory action and eight were referred to an alternative body.
Katherine Timms, HCPC Head of Policy and Standards, said:
“This report shows a shared approach across professional regulators to reporting and acting on whistleblowing disclosures.
We hope this collaboration across the health sector will provide a positive message to those considering making a whistleblowing disclosure.
Over the coming months we will be considering how the development of our data and intelligence function can help advance our reporting abilities in this regard.”
The joint report is available on the HCPC website.
* The eight professional regulators who have jointly published the report are the: General Chiropractic Council, General Dental Council, General Medical Council, General Optical Council, General Osteopathic Council, General Pharmaceutical Council, Health and Care Professions Council and Nursing and Midwifery Council.
